This A to Z of the streets of London represents the third in a handy series of historical atlases, the A to Z of Elizabethan London having been published in 1979 and the A to Z of Georgian London in 1982. Based on a survey of the capital originally under-taken by Richard Horwood in 1792-9 and updated by William Faden in 1813, it not only shows all the streets, lanes, courts, yards, and alleys in what was them the largest city in the world, but attempt to show every individual building with its street number. For this vlume Horwood's 40 large sheets have been photograpically reduced and a reference grid overlaid.
