Mareeba Airfield in Queensland played a pivotal role in the Pacific during the Second World War. Known as Hovet Field by the Americans, the United States Air Force was stationed there alongside the Royal Australian Air Force. The accomplishments of four units are featured: two from Australia, No. 5 and No. 100 Squadrons of the RAAF; and two from the United States, the 19th and 43rd Groups of the USAF. There are many black-and-white photographs throughout, primarily of those who served. The index is comprised mostly of the names of servicemen.
Softcover ( 17 x 23.5 cm) 100 pp. with pages 144-149 devoted to sources, bibliography and index. In very good condition with only slight curling to the top and bottom corners of the front cover.
