Annual Report Of Father Hudson's Society

The Birmingham Diocesan Rescue Society was a well-known Midlands Charity that cared for homeless children. Its founder and inspiration was FatherHudson, and it very soon became known colloquially as Father Hudson's Homes. Indeed, it is still a very active charity today, and has adopted the colloquial name.

The Annual Reports on this are for the period from 1902, when the society was set up, to 1915. They are of general interest because they record the early development of the society, the building of their homes, children's activities, etc, and are nicely illustrated with photographs. However, they also record the names of donors to the society, and perhaps of most interest (to the genealogist anyway) provide in some of the reports the names of children who were in the homes. They also record the names of children who emigrated to Canada, with annual reports on their progress. Kindly loaned to the project by the Birmingham and Midland Institute.
