General Data Protection Regulations(GDPR) 2018
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations 2018, we are required to seek your consent to store your personal data on our computer systems; we will store your name, address, telephone number, email address and order details. When placing an order, by ticking the Terms and Conditions, you agree to give your consent to store personal data.
If you have completed the gift aid section included in membership orders, you confirm the following..
"I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference."
Conditions of sale
Goods are for personal research use only and may not be copied, lent, hired or resold to another party. Information must not be posted on any website.
Our Society is the principal Family History and heraldic society for the counties of Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. This includes the areas of ‘old’ counties, as they existed before the major boundary changes of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the areas brought into them by those changes. In particular the modern metropolitan boroughs of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton (collectively known as the West Midlands) are within our area.
Items for sale
We sell Genealogy and local history products for our area and also general interest items. You can also purchase membership subscriptions and purchase search services. We also sell goods from partners including Warwickshire County Record Office, their terms and conditions are included in each items description.
Payments can be made by debit and credit cards or from Paypal accounts. UK customers can also make payment by UK cheque and Postal Orders made payable to BMSGH.
We use the Royal Mail's postal services. UK customers will be given a choice of delivery options. International customers orders will be sent by Royal Mail Airmail services. In some cases, goods may not be in stock and would need to be ordered, information will be included in the item details giving an estimated availability time.
Should goods arrive damaged in the post, we will issue a damaged parcel compensation claim against the Royal Mail. The Royal Mail may contact you and may require you to send them the parcel for inspection prior to issuing compensation. We will replace damaged goods as soon as possible.
Cancellation rights/returns policy
In accordance with the UK Distance Selling regulations, goods may be returned within 14 working days of receipt, except for computer software, eg CD's and DVD's, which can only be returned if they are unopened and the seal is unbroken. Downloads cannot be returned once they have been downloaded. Search Fees cannot be refunded once Search results have been sent to customers.
Customers should notify us of their intent to cancel by going to Account>View your order history>view order>Click on return arrow and complete Products return form, then use the contact us option to notify us that you will be returning goods. Goods need to be returned in the same condition as they were sent and must be in a fully saleable condition. It is the customer's responsibility to return the goods and pay for return postage. The customer must ensure that goods are not damaged in the return post and it is advised that they use the original packaging and obtain proof of posting receipts. A refund will be issued on receipt of the returned goods in their original condition.
If a CD/DVD does not work, please contact us for advice. If goods are faulty, they will be replaced free of charge.
We will only send newsletters to those customers who have specifically signed up to receive the newsletter. Customers can subscribe/unsubscribe at any time by going to Account then Newsletter.
