My Ancestor Settled in the West Indies

(with Bermuda, British Guiana and British Honduras). A guide to sources for family historians

A5, 254 pages, ISBN: 978-1-907199-08-0

For family historians who have ancestors who migrated from Britain to the area once known as the British West Indies. John Titford’s guide aims to help you to find and use the records held in Britain and those held in the territories themselves.

Chapters are organised territory by territory. Included are Guyana (formerly British Guiana) and Belize (formerly British Honduras), because the author regarded them as being part of the Caribbean region in the broadest sense. Bermuda is also included, despite being in the Atlantic rather than the Caribbean. The author notes that for administrative purposes, the Colonial Office in London considered it to be part of the West Indies.

Author: John Titford FSG.
