This first edition has 50 black-and-white illustrations of the people and places in Sherwood Forest, with an account of those who lived there, including the fine specimens of the natural world. It is the history of Sherwood Forest, featuring  Robin Hood and his Merry Men too. 

Original buckram. (18.5 x 27.3 cm). xiii 445 pp. Bevelled front board in green cloth with gilt titling on front and spine. Top edges gilt, others uncut and browned with age. Corners worn and bumped. Spine head and tail worn with small tears. Rippling along the front spine. Cracking to inner hinges showing webbing but still very intact.  Tanning to endpapers in front and back. Foxing to inner pages but very minor. Water damage to page 165/166.
