Armory, The Constance Egan Lecture, London, 1972
Cecil R. Humphery-Smith
Published by Family
History, Canterbury, 1973 (Or later, as the author's note on page 4 is signed:
'CRH-S Christmas 1976'.
ISBN: 0-9504 879-2-9
The thesis of
this lecture was broadly 'that heraldic evidence supports the historical
knowledge that we have about the conquest of England by the Normans and
that, in its origins, there is no such thing as English heraldry', and uses
'examples from medieval English and French rolls of arms [...] to show that
there was never any purely English armory'.
Hardcover 207 pp., (15.5
cm x 21.5 cm). Book is in very good condition, including the dust jacket, which
only has slight bending of the paper at the top. Some very light and
barely noticeable soiling on the back of the dust jacket. Otherwise, the book
looks brand new.
