Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Programme 1954, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Programme 1954, plus ephemera

The programme (28cm x 22.3cm) for the 1954 season, 26pp., is in Very Good condition, with crinkling to the front and upper back cover and some rusting of inner staples. The binding remains firm and intact.The individual programme for the Romeo and Juliet play is in Fine condition. 

The ephemera includes a two-page spread, 'Shakespeare Memorial Theatre 1951-53'  that appeared  in The Sketch on 4 November 1953 and a single page from The Sphere, with the article  'Shakespeare - Historical and Comical', featured on 7 May 1955. There is also a ticket stub from a lecture on 'Shakepeare's English' given by Hugh Sykes Davies, then a fellow of St John's College, Cambridge and University Lecturer in English.
