Oxford Canal Miscellany
This volume contains a miscellany of records relating to the Oxford Canal including five certificates under the Canal Boats Act 1877, all issued by Banbury Urban Sanitary Authority between 1879 and 1907, a transcription of the Gauging Certificate Book kept for weighing boats on the canal between 1871 and 1934, and two lists of workmen employed by the Oxford Canal Navigation in 1917 and 1918. The latter include the name, age, address and marital status of the workman, the date on which he joined the company and the capacity in which he is employed. For those of military age information is also given regarding place of their attestation, their medical classification and the type of exemption granted.
