Chipping Campden Division Petty Sessions-Bastardy Cases 1844-1892 (Inc.Some Worcestershire)
This publication is a transcription of the Register of Applications for a Summons by a Woman after Birth 1856 to 1892. This volume includes the date of the application, the name and residence of the mother, the name, residence and occupation of the putative father, and the sex and date of birth of the child. In most cases the court proceedings have been written on the reverse of the application including testimony from the mother and witness statements. Also included is a transcription of the Chipping Campden Division Bastardy Returns made to the Gloucestershire Quarter Sessions for the years 1844 to 1879 which give the name of the mother of a bastard child applying, date of issue of summons, date of Petty Sessions hearing, result of the application and the name of the putative father in all cases in which orders are made. Applications are included from persons living in Admington, Aston sub Edge, Broad Campden, Broad Marston, Chipping Campden, Clifford Chambers, Cow Honeybourne, Dorsington, Ebrington, Hidcote Bartum, Hidcote Boyce, Long Marston, Marston Sicca, Mickleton, Pebworth, Quinton, Saintbury, Welford, Weston on Avon, Weston sub Edge and Willersey [all Gloucestershire] and Aston Magna, Blockley, Broadway and Paxford [all Worcestershire].
